Less than a 5 minute walk from Polbrean’s doorstep is Lizard Point, which is the most southerly point of mainland Britain. There’s something quite extraordinary about being this far south, where rugged cliffs meet the open Atlantic and the landscape feels wonderfully wild and exposed.

  • Polpeor Cove ~ 5 min walk ~ A charming cove tucked away beside Lizard Point, the most southerly point of mainland Britain.

  • Housel Bay ~ 15 minute walk ~ A beautiful, secluded tidal beach that is a hidden gem and is mostly enjoyed by locals.

  • Kynance Cove~ 50 minute walk ~ One of the Lizard Peninsula’s most spectacular spots, known for its clear turquoise waters, pale sand and striking serpentine rock formations.

  • Pentreath Beach ~ 30 minute walk ~A wonderfully secluded stretch of sand tucked beneath the cliffs near Kynance Cove.

  • Church Cove (Landewednack) ~ 30 minute walk ~ A peaceful cove surrounded by dramatic cliffs, just over a mile northeast of Lizard Point.

  • Cadgwith Cove ~ 90 minute walk ~ A picture-perfect Cornish fishing village with a small beach, traditional cottages and plenty of coastal charm

  • Kennack Sands ~ 15 minute drive ~ A sheltered and family-friendly beach on the eastern side of the Lizard Peninsula, also popular with surfers.

  • Poldu Cove ~ 15 minute drive ~ A beautiful sandy beach on the west coast of the Lizard Peninsula, popular for swimming, surfing and relaxed beach days, with lovely coastal scenery all around.

Lizard Lighthouse ~ Standing proudly on the cliffs at Lizard Point, the lighthouse is one of the area’s most iconic sights. Visit the heritage centre, climb the tower and enjoy incredible views out across the Atlantic.

Minack Theatre ~ An incredible open-air theatre carved into the cliffs above the sea. Catch a performance or simply visit to explore the theatre and take in the spectacular coastal views.

Polgoon Vineyard ~ Spend a relaxed afternoon at this family-run Cornish vineyard, with tours and tastings of their award-winning wines, ciders and juices.

Cornish Seal Sanctuary ~ A lovely day out in the picturesque village of Gweek, where you can meet rescued seals and other marine animals while learning about the sanctuary’s conservation work.

St Michael’s Mount ~ One of Cornwall’s most iconic landmarks. Walk across the causeway at low tide to explore the historic castle, gardens and pretty harbour village.

Helford River ~ A beautiful and peaceful stretch of Cornwall, dotted with hidden creeks, waterside pubs and lovely walks. Perfect for a day of exploring, kayaking or simply enjoying the scenery.

Lizard Wireless Station ~ A fascinating piece of local history, where Marconi carried out some of his pioneering early radio experiments, perched high on the cliffs overlooking the sea.
